We're sorry, but this discussion has just been closed to further replies.
This is the space I'm suggesting the current MA group use to have a series of online discussions over the Easter break. If you follow one of the discussions at the bottom of the page you can see the structure of the conversations - just reply > you can enter a discussion at at any point > It may also be interesting to view last years conversations which might illustrate some of the concerns of the previous group.
Rather than set a time the discussion could be ongoing from the 8th onwards -
or / we can meet at 10am / continue the course meet time >
Merz- A stereological probe designed to estimate the length of objects.
Merz- An indepedent German pharmaceutical company with its own research and development, focused on drugs for the treatment of illnesses in the fields of neurology and psychiatry. Another field of competence is the clinical and aesthetic dermatology.
Merz -Nonsense word invented by the German Dada artist Kurt Schwitters to describe his collage and assemblage works based on scavenged scrap materials. He made large numbers of small collages, and more substantial assemblages, in this medium. He is said to have extracted the word Merz from the name Commerz Bank which appeared on a piece of paper in one of his collages http://www.tate.org.uk/collections/glossary/definition.jsp?entryId=163
This is all the information i have been given about it:
The Merzbau seminar (9.30am - 5.30pm) on Wednesday 6th May at the RCA
Setting up up SKYPE participation and a new website merz rca: collaboration transmission live.
In basic terms the Merzbau research seminar will run from 10am through to 5.30pm on Wednesday
5th May in the upper Gulbenkian Gallery at the RCA. (see seminar programme details attached). However,
we now propose to run two seminar sessions in parallel; (1) the core academic programme as listed, and then
(2) the Collaborative transmissions, and a more open fluid platform for dialogue, exchange and interaction.
Which could also be 'Merzed' in with the academic sessions as well.
...the seminar programme details weren't attached to the email i got...
That sounds good, if me and Mark can get his version of the website working it will be much more intuitive and better looking. Do you want to talk to Guillaume and Mark Whiteman about doing some broadcasting. If they get stuck, put them on to me.
Ashley: I could probably make a basic version, I'm working tonight and tomorrow morning so maybe by the end of the weekend or Monday. If you could email me the details of how to drop in the video screens or what to add to accommodate them for you to include them. Because I'm at the novice stage, I'll begin doing it and work out whether I can realistically make it—if not I'll send you the files.
so, is the participation live? i was thinking of making a short video where i put together a collage from found objects......can i upload this to the site?? (apologies for being technologically ignorant)
We've not made the site that interactive yet i'm afraid (it's well beyond my dreamweaver skills), the best way of getting pre-made work to Collaboration Transmission is to upload it to YouTube then it is easy to convert in via the mogulus studio...
I'm sending you a PDF version of my original design—it may have to be altered for the new purposes/additional institution—I guess this is a reference for you in case > if you have any ideas about the layout or build.
Hello all, it was heartening to see www.collaborationtransmission.com being used last Wednesday, especially since both me and Mark have now put a lot of time into making it work.
We would like to start working on ideas for more regular use over the next few months and beyond. There is still some interest from other universities and I think if we start to build up work and broadcasts on there, more people will become involved.
The website facilitates multiple location, multiple camera, audio-visual communication with the ability to augment the screens with text and images. So, if these features sound like something any of you would like to work with, please let us know your thoughts. Mark has designed to site so we can advertise the next project on the top of the screen, It would be nice to have something for the site to host for a week on Wednesday perhaps...
We would also like to give everyone who is interested a page to do with what they like. Perhaps find a single image to surmise your work and/or some text to support it.
what about the interviews? i would love to film/ voice record them and play about, perhaps creature comfort style animations....? or just even non-serious interviews, where the interviewer is dressed oddly (recalls the idea we had of peter lewis dressed as a girl in a cage. skipping.) but talking seriously about their work. i know micheal was talking about organising an art critic to interview us, we could always play with those....? could we all make an individual short about our work....? i will bring voice recorder in on weds to start off with
